Korey Wise was one of five teenagers convicted of assault and rape of a jogger in Central Park in 1989. After serving 13 years and four months in prison, he was exonerated of the crime. His attorney, Jane Fisher-Byrialsen, subsequently sued New York City on his behalf and negotiated a settlement of $12 million. Jane will tell the story of the Central Park case, the civil suit and Korey’s subsequent philanthropy, which includes the Korey Wise Innocence Project at CU.
She will also talk about her soon to be released documentary, False Confessions, which debuted at the Los Angeles Film Festival, and her current work on exonerations.
